Genesis
Si Tong started learning the classical piano at a young age of 3. Over the years of learning, she developed an interest towards contemporary music. She picked up many other instruments, mostly with certified grades, such as pop vocal, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, ukulele, violin, harmonica and many more, along her music journey.
Pedagogy
Being a holder of the Associate Diploma of London College of Music in Pop Music Vocals Performance (ALCM), Si Tong has been guiding many students not only in leisure singing, but also for pop vocal examinations. Si Tong has also guided many students in singing competitions and/or to becoming local artistes, notably:
- 小花 – 陈昱璇 Chen Yu Xuan: UFM100.3 “广播歌王 Radio Singer” 3rd season’s champion, currently a local singer-songwriter.
- 老 Uncle: UFM100.3 “广播歌王 Radio Singer” 1st season’s champion.
- 杨敏 Yang Min: “校园 Superstar” 4th season’s Top 7, currently a local singer- songwriter.
- 林峻民 Daniel Lim: “The Voice 决战好声” 1st season’s Top 4 under 曹格 Gary Chaw’s team, currently a local songwriter.
Being a multi-talented musician, Si Tong has been appointed the music director for several local dramas. She has also collaborated with many artists, be it in vocal or instrument guidance, or music production. These artistes include: Nan Quan Mama 南拳妈妈 (Taiwan), Pierre Png 方展发 (Singapore), Xu Bin 徐彬 (Singapore), Dasmond Koh 许振荣 (Singapore), Chantelle Ng 黄暄婷 (Singapore), Tay Kewei 郑可为 (Singapore), Snow Ng 黄雪婷 (Malaysia), and many more.
With 12 years of music teaching experience, Si Tong is able to amplify the strengths and strengthen the weaknesses of the student, and make the student understand his/her abilities better. She helps in shaping students’ very own unique voices, while giving them a lot of room for their own creative expression.
