Lyrics Writing Course
Do you have a story that you wish to tell, but not sure how your words and ideas can be woven smoothly into a song?
The Basic Lyric Writing course is taught by current industry practitioners Anders Ong 弈森、Mirasole 陈婷安 and Guest Lectured by Singapore’s pride – multiple award-winning lyricist Xiaohan 小寒. Catered for beginners who are interested in learning the fundamentals on how to write catchy lyrical hooks and lyrics that touches hearts.

Course Overview:
- Basic song structure
- Understanding the relationship between lyrics and melody and rhythm
- Lyric-writing development techniques (metaphor vs movie storytelling, rhyme, groove, etc)
- Identifying and creating good song titles
- Introduction to copyright
- Regular guided assignments/song reviews will be given to reinforce topics covered.
- Students will complete the assignments individually or as a group based on what they have learnt during the course. The songs will be presented in class and evaluated by the instructors.
